Walter Kucejko, 86, of Huntsville, passed away at his home November 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanislaw Kucejko, and his mother.

His surviving family is his wife of 63 years, Nell Garmon Kucejko; their son, Richard Kucejko of Athens and wife, Xan; his sister, Frieda Kucejko Gates; and five grandchildren: Lindsay Leigh Kucejko Jones, Devon Richard Kucejko Helton, Sam Walter Kucejko, Chelsea Elizabeth Kucejko, and Katelyn Maleah Kucejko; and many nieces and nephews.

Walter was born in Brooklyn, New York on Jan. 31, 1931, to immigrants from Poland. In 1948 he enlisted in the US Army and served for over 20 years in the 68th Signal Corps as an Electronics Technician. His service included a tour during the Tet Offensive in Viet Nam managing satellite tracking systems, long line communications, and tropospheric scanning. After his time in service, he was employed by GTE, SCI, and as a radio engineer at Chrysler Corporation. Despite his many accomplishments, he said the crowning achievement of his life was marrying Nell, the girl of his dreams, December 3, 1954, in Ft. Monmouth, NJ. A forthright, witty, and generous man, Walter was beloved of his family and countless friends who will sorely miss him.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Sunday, December 3 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
