Robert accepted Christ on March 21, 1976, and joined the former Jones Chapel U.M. Church (currently King’s Memorial U.M. Church) under the leadership of the late Pastor Watt Washington. Mr. Scruggs was baptized Nov. 29, 2000, at the Pentecostal House of Prayer by Bishop A.C. Strong. He was a dedicated and faithful member of King’s Memorial where he served on the Usher Board.

Robert was born April 4, 1951, in Morgan County, Alabama to the late Cleveland and Willie Lee Fields Scruggs. The Lord called him home on Nov. 28, 2017.

Clifford graduated from Lakeside High School class of 1969. Clifford retired from 3-M. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was an avid Alabama fan. He owned and operated Hands-On Detail Shop which he loved sitting and talking when his health started failing.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Clinton George Scruggs.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Wanda J. Scruggs; his sister, Sarah Lee Cordle (Alfred); children, Elonda M. Scruggs Blackburn (Cedric), Felicia D. Scruggs, Robert C. Scruggs Jr., and Jaquez U. Scruggs (Miklia), all of Decatur, Alabama; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews; and friends; and special friends, Donnie Cowley, Andrew and Linda Bell, B. Scott, and Jackie Watkins.

He has two special great-grandchildren that he would do absolutely anything for. All they would have to say is “Ganddaddy, I want,” and they had it.

Clifford was a loving, friendly, kind-hearted, and generous person. He truly loved his family and they loved him.
