Sarah Joan Lower – Obituary

Sarah Joan Lower, 76, returned to her Heavenly home on Nov. 29, 2017, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

She was born to the late Daniel and Sara Aurandt, of Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 25, 1940. She was immersed in the Christian communnity that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She was an ordained minister of music from the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee.

She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School, Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, in June of 1958 and later received a diploma of stenograph-secretary from Altoona, Pennsylvania School of Commerce and Zeth, Inc. in Pennsylvania. Later in life after raising her children, she graduated from Lorain Community College in Lorain, Ohio with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science-Computer Programming.

Sarah married her best friend, Wayne Byron Lower, on May 15, 1959, in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania. Sarah raised her three children with patience, discipline, and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels. Sarah’s love and faith in Christ were unwavering which influenced those closest to her: her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Lorene Lower; her brother, Thomas Aurandt; her sister, Wanda Aurandt Timperly; and her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne B. Lower; one son, Timothy Wayne Lower; one daughter, Karen Elizabeth Lower; two brothers, Daniel Aurandt and Kenneth Aurandt; one sister, Shirley Aurandt Kurtz Flaugh; and grandchildren, Cory Mitchel Lower and Jayson Daniel Lower.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Chesser officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
