Dorothy Dean Hale Lawhon – Obituary

Dorothy Dean Hale Lawhon, 88, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. She was born October 15, 1929, to Etnis J. and Lena Umfress Hale. She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was retired from Itawamba Community College where she was a switch board operator. She enjoyed sewing, was a fabulous cook, and loved Mississippi State. She especially loved her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:00 p. m. Saturday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Joe Allen Hale officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include one son, Loy K. Lawhon, Jr. (Diana) of Scarborough, Maine; one daughter, Sallye Lawhon Wallace of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Kathryn Wallace Smith (Wade) of Gulf Breeze, FL; three great grandchildren, Braden, Bella, and Lexie Kate.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jon C. Lawhon; several brothers and sisters; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
