Anna Dodd Gunderman – Obituary

Mrs. Anna Dodd Gunderman passed away at Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. Her visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Woodlawn Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, with Matt Heupel officiating. Pallbearers will be Ted Burrell. Charles Williamson, Ashton Cantrell, Blake Cantrell, Bradley Dodd, and Gary Gunderman.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Pauline Dodd. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, MG(ret) G. Larry Gunderman; son, Gary (Amy) Gunderman, of Littleville, Alabama; daughter, Melanie Cantrell (Nick), of Blackshear, Georgia; and grandchildren, Leah, Anna Elizabeth and Lara Gunderman, Ashton, Blake and Addy Cantrell; sisters, Eupha Williamson, of Littleville, Alabama, Brenda (Edward) Burrell, of Nashville, Tennessee; and brother, Grafton (Sandra) Dodd, of Parsons, Tennessee; along with several nieces and nephews.

Anna and Larry lived in Russellville, Alabama from 1973 until 1995, where she operated Mrs. Anna’s Pre-school in the basement of their home for 22 years. During those years she touched the lives of scores of young children, who she dearly loved.

Anna taught in the Fort Benning school system for several years. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Anna was a member of the Woodlawn Church of Christ, where she taught the ladies’ Bible class.

The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA’s at Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation for the quality care that they provided for Anna during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation to Caring Place, formerly WICP Caring Place, or a charity of your choice.
