Charles R. Reynolds – Obituary

Charles R. Reynolds, of Decatur, formerly of McCalla, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Charles was born on Jan. 4, 1943, in McCalla, Alabama. He was a graduate of McAdory High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and track.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; son, Rex(Amanda) Reynolds, of Decatur; son David Reynolds, of McCalla; grandson, Christopher(Danielle) Reynolds, of York, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Lindsay(Francis) Hibler, of Fort Gordon, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Jordyn; and great-grandson, Jaxon; nephews, John Patton Meadows, of McCalla and Michael Elliott(Sue), Meadows, of Atlanta, Georgia; and good friend, Clark Bush, of Decatur.

He retired from the Bessemer Fire Department after 25 years of service. He worked with neighbors in the Rock Mt. Lake area to establish the McCalla-McAdory Fire District and also coached McCalla Dixie Youth baseball for many years.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, and good friend to many. He loved fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and Auburn football.

Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
