Sam Hudson – Obituary

Sam Hudson, known as “The Vegetable Man”, age 79, of Decatur, passed away on Nov. 22, 2017. He served his country in the U.S Air Force as Airman 3rd Class. Sam spent 37 years with Primerica Financial Services. He quickly moved his way through the ranks to eventually become a National Sales Director. Sam loved growing vegetables, canning, cooking, and sharing them as well. He often carried meals to those in need. Sam will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Riddick McKinley Hudson and Lorene Neal Hudson; daughter, Deborah Hudson; sisters, Alice Hudson, Christine McKerley, Tessie Barnes, and Vermell Jones; brothers, Bobby Hudson, Royge Hudson and Roy Hudson.

Sam is survived by his loving wife, Judy Gentry Hudson, of Decatur; daughter, Josie Hudson, of Hartselle; sons, Randy Hudson (Kim), of Huntsville, Terry Hudson (Jessie), of West Lake Village, California; grandchildren, Madison Hurn (Benji), of Cullman, Shelby and Preston Hudson, of Huntsville, Ivy Hudson, of West Lake Village, California, and Raylee Mae Brown, of Hartselle; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Emma Hurn, of Cullman; sisters, Shirley Ann Campbell, of Virginia, Ronnie DiToma, of Florida, and Justine Hodges, of Georgia.

A visitation was held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m .at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be today, Nov. 26, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Vernon Stevens Jr. and Reverend Mark Teet officiating. Mr. Hudson will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Friends will serve as pallbearers.

If you would like, you may choose to either send flowers or make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital as requested by Mr. Hudson.
