Billy Jack Brackin – Obituary

Billy Jack Brackin, 75, of Town Creek, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital (DGC). His funeral will be Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home with Brother Mickey D. Brackin, Brother Chad Kitchens and Brother Rick Gilley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Billy Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Edna Manley Brackin; one sister, Norma Brackin Wear; two nieces, Angie Wear and Becki Wear Espy.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gwen Crisler Brackin; one son, Jackie Brackin (Amy); grandson, Jade Brackin; granddaughter, Marley Brackin; great- grandson, Jett Brackin, all of Town Creek; two brothers, James Doyd Brackin (Maxine), of Decatur and Eddy Joe Brackin (Mary Alice), of Florence; one brother-in-law, Kirk Wear, of Moulton; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Brackin was a 36 year employee of 3M, Decatur. He worked from 1961-1997, retiring as general of production supervisor. Mr. Brackin was an avid supporter of Hazlewood High School and Alabama football. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Greg Brackin, Jay Brackin, Corey Espy, Coy Kerby, Stevie Kerby, Charles Kitchens, Ethan Kitchens, and Robin Wear.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Berryman, Bruno Black, Chuck Booth, David Bunnell, Jack Saint, Larry Green, Robert Sheffield, Brennon Sprinkle, Frank Thaxton, and Bob Montgomery.
