Ann Harrell McRight – Obituary

Ann Harrell McRight, 91, died on November 19, 2017 at the home of her daughter, in Charlotte, NC.  She resided in Charlotte, NC her last three years, Birmingham, AL for two years and was a longtime resident of Red Bay, AL for fifty-eight years.

Ann McRight was born October 18, 1926 in McCrae, GA to Mattie and Lovett C Harrell.  She graduated from Telfair County High School and attended college at Barrett School of Nursing in Augusta, GA receiving her Diploma Degree in Nursing and was a Registered Nurse.  She met and married the love of her life, Dr. Edward L. McRight, while in Augusta, GA.  Mrs. McRight took the role of being a wife, mother and homemaker while her husband practiced dentistry in Red Bay, AL.  They were married for thirty-three years.

Her interests included family, Red Bay Church of Christ, cooking, gardening, canning and golf.  She was a member of the Red Bay Garden Club and played an active role in raising funds for the Red Bay School Library.  She devoted much of her time and energy to her family and community.  She was known for her southern charm, wit, sweetness and a giving person.

Services will be Sunday, November 26, 3 p.m. at Red Bay Church of Christ with Pat McRight and Scott Webster officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her four children – Edward L. McRight, Jr., Margaret McRight Lyons, Patricia McRight Walker and Caroline McRight Arnold and nine grandchildren – Harry and Ann Arnold, Arthur Walker, Alaina and Amelia Lyons, Leigh Ann McRight, Hannah McRight, Caroline McRight and Edward McRight, III.

Mrs. McRight was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward L. McRight and her son-in-law, Dr. David Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Dotson, David Lyons, Mark Morrow, David Tiffin, Herbert Trulove and Peter Walker.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 26, 2-3 p.m. at Red Bay Church of Christ.
