Herbert J. Coan – Obituary

Herbert J. Coan, 71, formerly of Moulton, died Nov. 16, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.

A celebration of life will be held at Valley Grove Baptist Church at Speake, Sunday, November 26, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. and funeral to follow with Wayne Turner and Steve McLemore officiating. No flowers please. Any donations may be made to Compassus Hospice at 704 N. Locust Ave, 2nd Floor, Suite 8, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 or any charitable organization of your choice.

He was born Dec. 19, 1945. Mr. Coan was a mechanic in and around Moulton for 40 years. He loved his family and his farm. He enjoyed dirt track racing for 30 years. Mr. Coan was a member of Moulton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Audrey Parker Abbott; and two brothers, Charles Coan and Hayes Coan, all of Hatton.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Patty; one daughter, Angie Ledbetter and her husband, Terry, of Somerville; one son, Tony Coan; and his one and only grandson, Logan Tyler Coan, of Speake; one stepgranddaughter, Taylor Ledbetter; one sister, Bernice Givens, of Moulton; one special friend that was like a brother to him, Richard Sandlin, of Decatur; six nephews; four nieces; and a lot of cousins that were like brothers and sisters.
