Celebration of Life for Mrs. Evelyn “Ann Brown” Williams, 89, will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Westside M.B. Church at 12:30 p.m., with her nephew, Elder Bakari Brown leading the eulogy and her nephew, the Reverend Willie B. Jackson officiating. The Inhumation will follow at Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the funeral. Public viewing will be today from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Evelyn Williams was a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was born May 1, 1928 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Oliver Jarmon and Sadie Maxwell Jarmon. Evelyn was one of 13 children and known as “Mrs. Ann” to all that loved her. She impacted those who knew her because of her gentle spirit, compassion for others, and influence in her community.
Evelyn served as a mother of her church, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, helped found the youth choir within her church, and was a leader of organizations throughout her community. Evelyn was the pioneer of a strong family and taught the love for Christ and Godly principles to her children.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory 10 children and one stepson, Erskine Jr. Brown (Olivia), Charles Brown, Linda Batts (Anthony), La Freda James, Dennis Brown (Debra), Cathy Miller (Ricky), Sandra Garth, Tony Brown, John Williams, Jennifer Parker (Marlowe) and John Allen Williams (Betsie); 21 loving grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Esther Brown, of Atlanta, Georgia, Marjorie Steward, of Hillsboro, Alabama, Alberta Walker, of Cleveland, Ohio, Marva Reid, of Moressa Valley, California, and Doris Jarmon, of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Evelyn devoted her life to serving others, ministering, and living everyday to the fullest. Without a single complaint, in her loving, patient and gentle spirit, she battled Alzheimer’s disease for many years as she resided at Valley View nursing home in Madison, Alabama. On November 21, 2017, as a solider for Christ, her battle came to an end. Her war was over and the victory is given to God Almighty! Evelyn Williams leaves a legacy. Her sweet spirit and kind heart will live forever within her family’s heart.
