FLORENCE-Dr. Will Boyd, former Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Alabama’s 2017 special election, is announcing his run for Lieutenant Governor of Alabama in the 2018 primary.

Alabama needs a Lieutenant Governor who will fight for a stronger economy, truly affordable healthcare, and quality public education for all,” said Dr. Boyd. “But before I begin my campaign officially, my priority is doing all I can to help get Doug Jones elected Alabama’s next United States Senator on December 12th.”
Dr. Boyd will be announcing his run for lieutenant governor tonight (Monday, November 20th) at 6 p.m. during the regularly scheduled Shoals Democratic Club meeting. It will be in the union hall located in Muscle Shoals at the intersection of Wilson and Avalon.
“As I’ve traveled all over the state for the past two years, Alabamians have asked that I strongly consider running for one of Alabama’s constitutional offices,” Dr. Boyd said.
The former Illinois councilman has strong political roots in north Alabama. He currently chairs the Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee and is a newly elected member of the State Democratic Executive Committee.
“Our state needs new leadership with bold ideas,” Dr. Boyd explained. “I am committed to doing all I can to move Alabama forward.”
