Mr. William Earl Lewis, 79, formerly of Okolona, died Monday, November 13, 2017 at North MS Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1938 in Chickasaw County, MS to Johnie Lewis and Leona Wooten Lewis. He married Wanda Millwood on March 21, 1965. He lived most of his life in Egypt, MS. William served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked in the cutting department of Futorian Furniture, and was a butcher employed by Hill’s Grocery in Chickasaw County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. William was an avid football fan. He loved attending church was a member of the Marion County Cowboy Church.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m., today (Wednesday), November 15, 2017 in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with his son, Bro. Tom Lewis and brother-in-law, Bro. Gene Thorton officiating. Burial will follow in Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 PM to service time only. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Wanda Lewis of Hamilton, AL; son, Thomas Earl Lewis and his wife, Angie of Hamilton, AL; 3 brothers, Clayton Lewis (Barbara) of West Virginia, Edd Lewis (Donna) of Okolona, and Sammy Lewis (Sherry) of Amory; 3 sisters, Lounez Scrivner (Freddie), Elizabeth Hamric (Wayne), and Kathy Thorton (Gene), all of Okolona; one grandchild, Matt Watts, 2great-grandchildren, Ali and Aiden Watts of Double Springs, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Joe Lewis and Tom Lewis, and 1 sister, Johnnie Ruth Wright.

Pallbearers will be Collin Hamric, David Rose, Matt Smith, Justin Thorton, Steven Lewis, David Lewis, Mike Lewis, and Jim Aron.
