Florence Police Dog Escapes Fence…Bites Woman

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning an incident that took place on Saturday, November 11 regarding a member of the canine unit:

“Florence Police are investigating an incident involving one of our department owned canine’s from over the weekend. 

On the night of November 11th a canine owned and cared for by department employee’s, escaped a fenced in enclosure and bit a 60-year-old female. 

The female is being treated at a local hospital and has undergone surgery to repair injuries sustained from the bite.  At this time the canine has been removed from duty pending the departmental investigation outcome. 

This is a very tragic incident and the Florence Police Department wishes to extend our deepest sympathy to those involved. 

We will continue to investigate this incident and provide information as it becomes available.”

So is the dog getting put down case if anyone else dog did that they dog we be dead tomorrow

Let’s wait for the investigation to complete. Police dogs should not be compared to the every day dog that majority of the time has no professional training. Did the handler give a command? was the dog acting weird? PTSD? Let wait for the rest of the story.

You’re right police dogs should be held to a much higher standard considering the tax dollars going into training them to not act like this.
