Jerry Lee Barkley – Obituary

Jerry Lee Barkley, 72, of Florence, passed away on November 10, 2017 at his residence. He served our nation as a member of the United States Army in Vietnam.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member of IBEW 558.

The funeral service will be in Greenview Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Nolan Burns and Wayne Wood officitating.  Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Barkley; brothers, Jimmy Barkley and Junior Barkley and son-in-law, Wendell Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Jackson Barkley; mother, Lucille Horton Barkley; son, Tim Barkley(Sherry); daughter, Lisa Smith, brother, Steve Barkley(Judy); sisters, Janice Erwin (Ronnie), Kathy Daniel (Sonny), Donna Berry (Eddie), Marsha Bailey (Donnie) and Becky Vickery (Stacey); grandchildren, Jessica Joiner (Benji), Harlie Barkley, Kendra Hanback (Kolby) and Austin Barkley and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Kate and Whitley Jean Joiner.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Austin Barkley, Benji Joiner, Nick Arndt, Colby Vickery, Ricky Jackson and Barry Wright.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kolby Hanback, Charles Barkley, Fred Bevis, Lee Barkley, Scotty Phillips, Carl Moore, Trigger Oakley and Robert Darby.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 300 Memphis, TN 38148-0552.
