Elvin “Pete” Wade Spencer – Obituary

Elvin “Pete” Wade Spencer, age 78, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at his residence in Columbia, Tennessee.

Pete was born on December 29, 1938 in Lynnville, Tennessee to the late John Herman Spencer and Alvilda Green Spencer. Pete married Precious Jewell Scott on October 29, 1958. He was a loving husband and caring father. Pete had several interests including Ford trucks, watching sports, and farming. He was a hardworking man and retired from Union Carbide. Pete loved animals and had a special fondness for Walking Horses, chickens, cows, and English Bulldogs. Pete was a member of Philippi Church of Christ. He will be remembered as a man that greatly loved his family and his Lord.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Josh Hardin officiating. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Pete is survived by his wife Jewell Scott Spencer; daughters Marcia (Michael) Brady and Cynthia (Jerry) Faulkner; grandchildren Jake (Jessica) Brady, Scotty (Aftan) Faulkner, Clayton (Rebecca) Brady, and Justin (Brandi) Faulker; great-grandchildren Mikayla, Beckham (Best Buddy), Emerson, Cambelle, Kelsey, Avery, Kendall, McKinley, and Madelyn; brother Eddy (Wanda) Spencer; brother-in-law James Keith (Sandra) Scott; and sisters-in-law Barbara Ann Spencer, Wanda Fly, and Pauline Davidson.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; brother Duel Spencer, niece Patty Spencer Zphoff, and nephew Terry Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Jake Brady, Scotty Faulkner, Clayton Brady, Justin Faulkner, Skip Spencer, Cody Spencer, and Johnny Cates.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Wanda Fly, Joyce Dugger, Barbara Ann Spencer, and Hospice Compasus of Columbia, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Philippi Church of Christ or Alzheimer’s Research Foundations.
