Jack Davis – Obituary

Jack Davis, 84, died on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Generations of Red Bay in Red Bay, AL.  He was born in Itawamba County, MS. and was a member of Community Center Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL.  Jack was a mechanic and loved most items having motors or wheels. He either made a successful repair or jokingly pronounced the item to be “worn out.”  He worked many years at Davis Standard Service Station in Red Bay, which he later co-owned and co-operated.  He worked at Sunshine Homes and retired in maintenance from Belmont Homes.  Jack suffered a major stroke in 1995 and excelled in physical therapy and other rehabilitation, but other complications followed.

Services will be Saturday, November 11, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife – Joyce Ezzell Davis, Red Bay, AL; a son – Ronald Timothy Davis, Orlando, FL; three sisters – June Wood, Golden, MS; Virginia “Jenny” Cournoyer, Pompano Beach, FL and Mary Sue Long, Hernando, MS; one brother – Bill Davis, Waukegan, IL. Granddaughters are Tim’s daughter, LaShay Davis Riddle and her husband, Darit Riddle, Russellville, AL and Mark’s daughter, Shanna Davis Turner, Tremont, MS.  Great-grandchildren are Maddie and Cooper Riddle and Jayden and Jared Turner.  He is also survived by two daughters-in-law – Jean Davis Robinson, Russellville, AL and Lisa Davis, Orlando, FL and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evie Nix Davis and Earl Norman Davis, a son – Mark Allen Davis; four brothers, James, Prince, Russell and J.R. Davis; a nine month old sister, Flora Ann Davis; three brothers-in-law, Melvin Wood, Theron Long and Bill Cournoyer and five sisters-in-law, Dezzie, Edna Mae, Martha Ann, Linda M. and Linda K. Davis and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Hardin, Chuck Cashion, Nicky Wiggins, Billy Chism, Jeff Long and Randy Northington.

Memorials may be made to Food Pantry Ministry or School Supply Ministry, First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 126, Red Bay, AL 35582 or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 616, Red Bay, AL 35582.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
