Funeral for Jean Slaten, 75, will be Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael Gunter officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cheatham Cemetery.
Mrs. Slaten died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She battled cancer for 16 years. She was born April 7, 1942, in Steele, Missouri, to Landoe Harris and Ruth Currington Harris. She was the owner of Slaten Machine Shop and a carrier for The Decatur Daily for 13 years. Mrs. Slaten was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Slaten; parents; son, Kenny Slaten; grandson, Boomer Patterson; sister, Barbara Ann Harris and brother, Larry Harris.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Slaten and Rhonda Brown (Mickey); one son, Frank Slaten Jr.; two brothers, James Harris and Bobby Harris; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and several other family members.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Brown, David Behan, Dakota Slaten, Trever Slaten, Gunner Slaten and Johnny Harris.
