Sherrill Dean “Sam” Bracken – Obituary

 Funeral service for Sherrill Dean “Sam” Bracken, 76, will be Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dale Dillbeck and Brother Stanley Reeves officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Bracken died on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at his residence. He was born April 15, 1941, in Morgan County to Douglas Bracken and Willie Mae Engle Bracken. He was a maintenance supervisor for Goodyear prior to his retirement. He was an avid Alabama fan and loved gardening, working with rosebushes, and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Bracken; and two sisters, Bertie Lee Johnson and her husband, Velvert, and Margaret Flannagin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bracken; three sons, Michael Bracken (Meta), Richard Bracken (Delana) and Randy Bracken; two daughters, Deanna Purser (Mikeal) and Sara Bracken; one brother, Hoyt Bracken (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Vivan Bracken; brother-in-law, Junior Flannagin; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.
