Robert “Lavaughn” Robertson – Obituary

Robert “Lavaughn” Robertson, 75, of Florence, died Friday, November 3, 2017. His first visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Florence, Alabama. His memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. His second visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Rector First Baptist Church in Rector, AR. His memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm.

Mr. Robertson was a native of Rector, AR. He was the basketball coach of Lyon College, where he was a member of the Hall of Fame. He was the founder and member of the Rector High School Hall of Fame, where he was president for many years, and also still holds many records. He was a member of the high school 4H Club, FFA, and Student Government. He was the director for the Special Olympics for the state of Arkansas. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of Central Heights Civitans and was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church..

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Allie Jones Robertson; brothers, W.C. and Dennis Robertson; and sisters, Lucille McIntosh and Lottie Benson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Rosemary Box-Robertson; sons, Rob Robertson and Russell Lynn Robertson; bonus sons, Danny Dover and Shawn Dover; grandchildren, Zach Robertson; 8 bonus grandchildren and 4 bonus great grandsons; sisters, Glenda VanGoethem and Louise Hill; the mother of his children, Betty Drewry Robertson; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

The family requests no flowers, but instead please make donations to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Project 311, 2705 Co. Rd. 222, Florence, Alabama 35633 or to Rector High School Hall of Fame, 1703 Loberg Lane, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401-4670.

The family extends a special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Dr. Dina Jannun, and Dr. Ferrin Bayles for their loving care.
