Howard Wayne Tignor, Sr – Obituary

Howard Wayne Tignor, Sr. passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Heritage Assisted Living in Lexington, Tn. at the age of 74. He was born June 1, 1943 in Lexington, Tn. Mr. Tignor was preceded in death by his parents Earl Tignor and Louise Mullins Tignor. He is Survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanetta White Tignor and three children- Howard Wayne Tignor, Jr. and wife, Paula of Shelbyville, Janet Tignor Patterson and husband, Stephen Patterson of Murfreesboro, and David Tignor and wife Christy, of Gallatin; one sister Cornelia Tignor Morris and husband Ranny of Huron, Tn. Nine grandchildren- Taziah Cunningham (Andrew), Claudia Hagan, Maggie Tignor, Mary Kate Tignor, Caleb Tignor, Brock Patterson, Brett Patterson, Lily Tignor, Zachary Tignor; 6 great grandchildren- Angel, Tess, Ali, Malachi, Kyrie Cunningham and Addie Hagan.
After graduating from Memphis State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics and Finance, Howard began his career. He was a National Bank Examiner working out of Nashville Subregion with the Treasury Dept., Washington, D.C. He examined banks in a five state area for 10 years. In 1974, he graduated from LSU School of Banking of the South in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Howard was president and CEO of 5 banks in Tennessee. Peoples National Bank, Shelbyville, TN Dominion Bank, Shelbyville, TN First Federal Savings and Loans Lexington, TN Community National Bank, Lexington, TN and the Bank of Waynesboro, Waynesboro, TN. He was also President of First National Bank Lexington, TN Vice President of Park National Bank Knoxville, TN and Executive Vice President of Harpeth National Bank, Franklin, TN. He retired from the Bank of Waynesboro.
Howard was in the Rotary Club in Lexington, TN, Shelbyville, TN and Waynesboro, TN and was Paul Harris Fellow in Shelbyville, TN. He served on many civic organizations during his career.
His hobbies included, family, farming, hunting, reading and shooting skeet and trap.
Howard was a member of Palestine Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Lexington, TN. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Mid South Chapter, 4825 Trousdale Dr. Suite 220 Nashville, TN 37220-1309
