James L. Stewart – Obituary

James L. Stewart age 85 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Stewart was born March 15, 1932 in Limestone County, AL to Fred L. Stewart and Delia Viola Holmes Stewart.

Services will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 12:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bill Perkins officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was a PFC Veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Korea. He entered the Army in November 1952 and was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC, and was honorably discharged in August 1954 at Camp Chaffee, AK.

Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Delia Stewart; brother, Jerold Stewart.

Survived by his wife, Doris McDonald Stewart of Athens; one daughter, Dr. Debra Davis and husband, Glenn of Tuscaloosa, AL; one granddaughter, Amy Woods and husband, Jeff; two great-grandchildren, Mary Glenn Woods and Caroline Jeffery Woods; two sisters, June Whitehead and husband, Bobby of Athens and Janette Bryson and husband, Jack of Leoma, TN; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Woods II, Mike Swanner, Dr. B.C. Sahu, Greg Swanner, Steve Bryson and Dan Bryson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. B.C. Sahu, Menu Sahu, Travis and Pauline Raney, Beth Garrett and Southern Gayles Golfers.
