Bobby Gene Shoemaker, 82 of West Point, died Monday, October 30, 2017. His funeral will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-8 at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be in Cullman Memory Gardens.
Mr. Shoemaker served a combined total of over 25 years in the U.S Air Force and Alabama Air National Guard, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ruth Kreps Shoemaker; sons, Robert (Wanda) Shoemaker and Stan (Regina) Shoemaker; daughters, Jeana (Greg Hampton) Stone, Diane (Bill) French, Marie Lindsey and Ernie Gossett; brothers, Charles (Janell) Shoemaker and Garey (Elta) Shoemaker; sister, Josephine (Reno) Wren; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reburn Carlton and Lulabelle Savannah Umphrey Shoemaker; sister Melba Heiret; grandsons, Donald DeMarco and Tykie Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, McKenzi Shoemaker and Tucker Staton.
