Rava Jean Barrett – Obituary

Rava Jean Barrett, 82, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.  She was born in Prentiss County, MS on November 8, 1934, to the late Randolph and Virgie Nunley.  Jean was a devoted employee of Yarber Drugs in Belmont for more than 30 years.  One of her greatest joys came from working in the church youth ministry where she taught Sunday School and directed the youth choir.  Jean also authored, directed and produced Christmas plays.  She had been a member of the Eastern Star.

Graveside services will be Monday, October 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Lindsey Cemetery with Haskell Sparks officiating.  Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughters-Regina Boyd and Deresia Deaton (Lester); three grandchildren-Josh Boyd, Jessica Lima (Roger) and Makita Cleveland (Andrew); three great-grandchildren-Chloe and Paisley Boyd and Nora-Kate Cleveland; special niece Debbie Belue (Tim) and her family, Shane Blaylock (Lynn) and Dakota Belue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar “O.L.” Barrett and three brothers-Billy, Troy and Roy Nunley.

Pallbearers will be Lester Deaton, Josh Boyd, Andrew Cleveland and Tim Belue.

Visitation will be Monday, October 30, 10-1 at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the exceptional caregivers at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.  A special thank you to Nicole, Hannah, Sheila, Carrie, Hannah and Geneva.
