Mr. Ferguson, who passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 26, 2017 was born Aug. 20, 1935 in Decatur. He was educated at Austinville High School and Tennessee Valley Trade School in Decatur. He served in the U.S. Air Force after his stepfather, Frank E. Ross, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II, passed away at the young age of 36.

Jim worked in sales during the early years of his career. He began his career with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department in 1976 and retired in 1997. There he found his passion for serving others. He helped with numerous fundraisers for the Boys Ranch collecting donations.

In the latter years of his career with the Sheriffs’ Department he was assigned to the town of Eva where he loved the people and they loved him.

Jim’s happiest times were being with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and especialy his three grandchildren. He was always there for them. He loved his Lord and Savior, his church, Parkview Baptist, and the fellowship there. Follow that with Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
