Senior Chief Petty Officer (SW) Michael S. Kolb of Prospect, passed away on October 20, 2017 in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and grew up in Prospect, Tennessee. He graduated from Giles County High School in May 1995. He enlisted in the United State Navy in August 1995 and attended recruit training at Recruit Training Command Great Lake, IL. His duty assignments include: The USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) from 1995 to 2001, where he served as a Track Supervisor, Air Intercept Controller and Work Center Supervisor of OI division. He then transferred to FCTCLANT Dan Neck and served as an OS “A” School instructor from 2001-2004.
From 2004-2009, he served onboard PCU James E. Williams (DDG 95) as the LPO of OI Division. While there, he obtained his Surface and Air Warfare Coordinator qualifications. From 2009 to 2012 he was stationed at the Naval War College in Newport, RI as LPO for War Gaming Department. In August 2012, he transferred to USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55) and was cross-decked to USS GRAVELY (DDG 107) Shortly after in December 2012. Onboard GRAVELY, he served as the LCPO for OI Division and obtained his Tactical Action Officer qualification. In 2015, he arrived at CSCSU Dam Neck and took over as the LCPO for N731, N732 and N733 divisions within Operations Department. His personal awards include Navy Achievement Medial (six awards), Armed Forces Service Medal and various campaign and unit awards.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm until 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 1st at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
Visitation will also be from 12:00pm until 2:00pm on Thursday, November 2nd followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm at the Columbia Parkway Baptist Church in Columbia, TN.
Burial will follow in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, Columbia, TN. with full military honors.

Step-daughter, Brittany Collins of Columbia
Step-daughter, Jaclyn Collins of Columbia
Parents, Mike and JoAnn Kolb of Prospect
Sisters, Bonnie Kolb and Jessica Lovett both of Nashville
Grandchildren, Christyanna, Maykenzie, Zadien, Steven, and Kenton
Aunt, uncle and cousins also survive.
