David Anthony Keys, Sr. – Obituary

David Anthony Keys, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 20, 2017 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA. He was born March 29, 1943 in Cartersville, GA to Lawrence and Lassie Keys, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted brother to Donald, Larry and the late Noble Keys. David grew up attending and was baptized at Gilmer Street Baptist Church and was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Cartersville High School. He went on to receive his BA in Business from Oglethorpe College and his MBA from Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He married his loving wife, Anna Katherine Mann of Belmont, MS and moved to Macon to begin his tenured teaching career at Macon Junior College (Middle Georgia State University). He was a passionate professor and a caring academic advisor. One of his favorite pastimes was watching and supporting First Presbyterian Day School athletics.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 11 a.m. in Georgia. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2 p.m. at Belmont Memory Gardens, Belmont, MS with Bro. Jack Maroon officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens, Belmont, Ms. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his children – David Anthony Keys, Jr. (Peggy) of Macon, Anna Keys Durden (Cameron) of Statesboro and Carol Keys Gledhill (Clay) of Macon; and grandchildren – Abbie and Ameron Durden, Jr. and Hobson Gledhill. Also left to cherish his memory are Heath Wilson, Beth Yourmans, Kate Wesson and Rachel Wilson.
