FLORENCE-Sacred Way Sanctuary and Interpretive Center celebrated the grand opening of their Interpretive Center/Museum on Saturday, October 21.  The Sanctuary is located at 4409 County Road 200 in Florence.

Celebration was for the new visitor’s center and to honor the relationship between the Horse and Native Peoples in the Americas.

The celebration took place on the grounds of the Interpretive center under an awning of pine and fir trees.  There was drum music, singing and dancing.  Yvette Running Horse Collins and her husband Sean Collins were there to welcome visitors and took several groups of people down to the sanctuary to visit the horses and buffalo.

Yvette Running Horse and her husband  purchased the 100-acre preserve in 2008 and the area has since been designated a Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area.
