Raymond J. Gouin – Obituary

CW3 Raymond J. Gouin, 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 surrounded by family at Huntsville Hospital.

“Chief” was born one of 11 children on October 23, 1932 in Willow City, North Dakota to Lawrence J. and Georgiana Gouin. He retired from the Army in 1976 after 23 years associated with the HAWK (Homing All the Way Killer) Missile System, achieving numerous awards including the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Ray continued to serve as a Civil Servant associated with HAWK for 18 more years. During his career he and his family were stationed overseas in England, Korea, Germany, and Saudi Arabia as well as Texas and Washington state before retiring in Huntsville, Alabama.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret; daughters, Teresa Huff (Jon), Michelle De Fatta (Rick), Sherry Tomblin (Eric); son, Scott Gouin; sister Jean Carpenter (Ray); 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; beloved dog, Cooper; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a private service and interment at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville, Monday 10-23-2017 at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests any memorial donations be made to Still Serving Veterans in honor of Ray at stillservingveterans.org
