Freddie H. Mills, 88-years-old, passed away Oct. 11, 2017, at Cypress Cove Care Center.

Freddie was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Mt. Hope, Alabama to Alex and Fannie Mae Mills.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. He had a love of repairing cars and was the founder and owner of Freddie Mills Body Shop for many years. He loved nothing better than serving the public. He was known around town for his sense of humor and his silly jokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Fannie Mae Mills Moreland; his wife of 62 years, Freida Stone Mills; his brothers, Edward Mills and Johnnie Mills; his sisters-in-law, Jean Ames, Merle Montgomery, Lucille Mills, and Leola Mills; and his brothers-in-law, Henry Ames, Jim Malone, and Arlin Cheatham.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Mills; his son, Mike Mills; sisters-in-law, Trudie Malone and Erma Cheatham; brother-in-law, Floyd Montgomery; a host of nieces and nephews he thought of as his own; and Van Lawson (Elaine), whom he loved dearly and thought of as his own.

A special thanks to Van Lawson who spent many days helping Freddie and Freida as their elder years took over and Billy Mills who spent many nights with Freddie as his health diminished. Also a special thanks to the Country Cottage who made his last three years a little more pleasant.

Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Akins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Van Lawson, Chris Lawson, Paul Sweeney, Marty Corbell, Billy Mills, and Stuart Mills.
