Arrest Made In Deadly Hit And Run Accident

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department held a press conference on Tuesday, October 10 in the hit and run death of  Kevin Doherty, 57.  Doherty was hit and killed on Friday, October 6 as he was traveling in the 2300 block of Cloyd Blvd in his wheelchair.

 

According to investigators it is believed the driver left the scene heading west, then turned south on Mall road.

During the press conference, investigators confirmed they had been searching for a 2005-2006 Ford Freestyle with front passenger side damage.

After following up on several tips from the public over the weekend it was determined the driver of the SUV to be Christina Marie Carroll.

According to authorities Carroll turned herself in to Lauderdale County Courthouse at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. October 10 and provided information that described her involvement in the crash.

Carroll was arrested and charged with Felony Leaving the Scene Resulting in Death and is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $2500 bond.
