Top photographers Caroline Allison and Angie Mosier present workshop at UNA and exhibition at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts

FLORENCE-The University of North Alabama is hosting a day of workshops Friday, November 9th, 2017.

A full day of creative workshops for college students and high-school seniors will be taught by top photographers Caroline Allison and Angie Mosier. In the morning workshop, Everywhere is Somewhere, Caroline Allison will explore the landscape of Florence, AL using large format cameras and polaroid film in an effort to describe a sense of its unique place and history. Students will explore landscape through architecture, interiors, and environmental portraiture. In the afternoon workshop, Food Styling, Writing, and Photography Angie Mosier will show students how to test recipes; approach technical and creative writing; prop and style food for a photo-shoot; and light and capture the essence of taste in an image.

Caroline Allison an exhibition of her work on display at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts leading up to the workshop from October 5 through November 10. Caroline Allison will deliver a gallery talk November 9 at 5:30pm at the art center.

Angie Mosier is a writer, stylist, and photographer from Atlanta, GA. Her work is found  in Food & Wine, Town and Country, The New York Times, Southern Living, Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Coastal Living, and Garden and Gun magazines. Her essays on Southern cakes, pies and traditional meals can be read in The New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture. She has collaborated with cookbook and craft authors such as John T. Edge, Matt Lee and Ted Lee, Virginia Willis, Natalie Chanin, and the Southern Foodways Alliance. Angie is honored to have worked as co-author and photographer on Chef Eric Ripert’s most recent book, Avec Eric as well as photography for John T. Edge’s, The Truck Food Cookbook; Kevin Gillespie’s book, Fire in My Belly; and John Currence’s book, Pickles, Pigs and Whiskey. Angie is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and The James Beard Foundation.

Caroline Allison is a fine art photographer who lives and works in Nashville, TN. She is represented by Zeitgeist Gallery in Nashville. She has shown in Howard Greenberg Gallery in NYC, Slow Gallery in Chicago, University Center Concourse Gallery in Knoxville, Daniel Cooney Fine Art  in NYC, and the Momentum Art Gallery in Berlin. Her work has been featured in Garden & Gun, Travel + Leisure, The Wall Street Journal, Southern Living, This Old House, Men’s Journal, Oxford American, and The Local Palate magazines.
