COLBERT COUNTY-Sheriff Frank Williamson of the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on Monday, September 25 concerning the fact that counterfeit money has been found to be circulating in Colbert County and the surrounding area:

“Sheriff Williamson would like to alert the public to be aware of counterfeit cash that is circulating in this area. The fake bills can be in any denominations such as $20 bills and $100 bills.

Below is a picture of a stack of $100 bills that was taken from an ongoing case we are working with the Colbert County Drug Task Force.

These fake bills are labeled “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” …. However, those words are not quickly noticed, so we want you to be aware and pay close attention. The front of the bills look extremely real. The back of the bills are easier to notice that they are counterfeit.

Store owners and civilians both be alert.”

The Sheriff’s Name is Frank Williamson, not Williams.
