Funeral service for Barbara Jo Nichols, 60, of Hartselle will be Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Roger Brown officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday from 2 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Nichols, who died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born Nov. 29, 1956, in Hartselle to Bobby Martin and Carolyn Rausa Martin. She was preceded in death by her father. She graduated from Athens State University. She was a retired kindergarten teacher at La Petite Academy and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Decatur. Barbara Jo was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and was a very special Loving and Caring person who will be greatly missed by all her family and her friends.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Nichols; two daughters, Heather and her husband, Jeremy, of Aiken, S.C. and Melissa and her husband, Will, of Aiken, S.C.; her mother, Carolyn Martin, of Hartselle; one brother, Rob Martin, of Birmingham; one sister, Jan Harris and her husband, Dan, of Birmingham; and four granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or your favorite Diabetes Foundation.
