Tony Lyle Yancey – Obituary

Tony Lyle Yancey, 75 of the Union Hill Community, Morgan County, died Monday September 18, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Yancey was born September 13, 1942 in Morgan County to Jack Yancey and Mary Bowling Yancey. He worked in maintenance at Goodyear Tire and Rubber and retired after 26 years. He was a 1960 graduate of Arab High School. He and the former Jarrette Wilson were married for 54 years. He loved to read, work crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he also enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the UAW.
Mr. Yancey attended Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Jarrett Wilson Yancey; his daughter and son-in-law: Cindy Johnson and James; his sons and daughters-in-law: Tony Douglas Yancey and Joey and James Richard Yancey and Jennifer; grandchildren: Chase Couch, Tristan Couch, Tate Yancey, Cooper Yancey, Christy Howard and Sam, Seth Hodges and Brynnley Monday; great grandchildren: Logan Reece and Caleb Reece; brothers: Wayne Yancey, Jackie Yancey, Randy Yancey and Terry Yancey; sisters: Sue Pridmore, Marie Jean and Kay Burke. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Mary Yancey; his brothers: Gene Yancey and Bobby Yancey; his sisters: Nell Johnson and Joan Overstreet.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 21, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother: Kenneth Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Lacey’s Spring with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Yancey, Greg Griffin, Robbie Dukeminer, Carl Lawrence, Greg Allen and David Williams.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 21, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Decatur’s Clearview Cancer Institute, Decatur Morgan Hospital, and Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for the loving care shown to Tony, and a special thanks to Dr. Sammy Becdach and Dr. Jeanette Keith.
