Sarah Sue Duncan Hurt, 82, homemaker and resident of Holly, Michigan, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Genesys Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Roger A. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. and Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born October 30, 1934 in Hampshire, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ewing Duncan, Sr. and the late Alice Josephine Morrow Duncan. On June 18, 1960 she married Douglas Fowler Hurt who preceded her in death June 9, 2005. She was a 1953 graduate of Hampshire High School and enjoyed nature, painting, and drawing. A loving wife and mother, Mrs. Hurt loved cooking, and baking for her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Steven Douglas (Shelley) Hurt of Holly, Michigan; sister, Bobbie Harmon; brothers, R. E. Duncan, Jr; Donald Duncan; and Ronald Duncan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betsy Goodwin; Dorothy Armstrong; and Jackie Dugger; and brothers, Ray Duncan; and Joe Dayton Duncan.
