Glen Edward Kinnard – Obituary

Glen Edward Kinnard, 93, former co-owner of Champion Shoe Shop and resident of The Bridge at Life Care Center of Columbia, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born March 7, 1924, in Columbia, he was the son of the late Horace Kinnard and the late Carrie Murphy Kinnard. He was married to Anne Witherow Kinnard who preceded him in death January 24, 1987. He was a 1942 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University for two years. Mr. Kinnard was scorekeeper with Columbia Little League for several years and had served as Troop Master for Cub Scouts of America and won the Long Rifle Award. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon and taught the Langsdon-Kinnard Sunday School Class for many years.

Survivors include his sons, Bill (Karen) Kinnard of Columbia, Steve (Leigh) Kinnard of Fair Lawn, NJ, Mike (Sharon) Kinnardof Thompsons Station, Doug (Julie) Kinnard of Spring Hill; sister, Ruth (George) Knox of Columbia; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
