Vera Nell Pugh Mercer – Obituary

Vera Nell Pugh Mercer, 80, of Arab passed away Saturday September 9, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by a family that loved her immensely.
Mrs. Mercer was born January 20, 1937 in Clarke County to George C. Pugh and Ruth M. Monk Pugh. She was a 1955 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Al. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, traveling and working puzzles.
She was a member of Arab First Baptist Church for 46 years.
Mrs. Mercer is survived by her husband: Robert Lamar “Bob” Mercer; her son and daughter in law: Michael M. and Beverly B. Mercer; a brother and sister in law: Ronald W. and Linda Pugh; a sister and brother in law: Patricia A. and Marshall Weldy; her grandchildren: Steven Jordan Blevins and Jeremy Clint Blevins; five great grandchildren and twenty two nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Vicki Mercer Blevins Smith and her parents: George C. and Ruth M Pugh.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 12, 2017 at Arab First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Murphy and Dr. Clint Landry, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service at Arab First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Charity of your choice.
