Madison County Public Fishing Lake Temporarily Closed September 7

MADISON COUNTY-Madison County Public Fishing Lake will be temporarily closed beginning September 7, 2017, pending the appointment of a new lake manager. Applications for the lake manager position at Madison County Public Fishing Lake are now being accepted by the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF). The position is contracted with the State of Alabama for a three-year term and is renewable at the discretion of the State.

Lake manager duties include the sale of fishing permits, grounds maintenance, store management and other related responsibilities. An investment is required to meet the initial needs for beginning daily operations. Persons interested in applying for this position should contact the WFF Fisheries Section at 64 N. Union St., Montgomery, Ala., 36130, or call 334-242-3471, prior to September 29, 2017.

During the closure, anglers looking for a great place to fish can visit DeKalb County Public Fishing Lake in Sylvania, Ala., which is about an hour drive southeast of Madison County lake.
