Clara “Dale” Williams – Obituary

Clara “Dale” Williams, 76, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017. Her family will receive friends for visitation today from 5-7 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Colbert Memorial Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. with Tom McCormack officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Dale was a hard worker at Williams Texaco beside her husband, Herdis, and a great counselor for many friends. She always had a smile and loved everyone even though she was full of mischievousness. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lizzie Ables; son, James N. Hughes; sisters, Niler McCormack, Mary Palmer, and her twin sister Cleo Zimmerman; and her brother, Dalton Ables.

Dale is survived by her husband, Herdis Glee Williams; sons, David Williams (Angela), and Farion Hughes (Sandra); daughters, Tammy Sharp, Linda Williams, Carol Cameron, Vera Mitchell, Lynn Hughes, and Jeanette Hughes; and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Her pallbearers will be Manly Barksdale, Dalton Williams, Cody Williams, Antwan Ingram, Brian Goodloe, Ryan Kelsey, and Gunner Ford.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to a very special daughter-in-law, Angela Williams, the Shoals Hospital fourth floor nurses, Jennifer, Pam, and Caroline, as well as to the Alacare Home Health Care nurse Leah, and aid Stacey for the love and care given to our dear wife and mother.
