Sarah McKinney Underwood, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born August 30, 1933, in Red Bay, Ala. and was co-owner of True Value Hardware. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Red Bay, Ala.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept.15 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Brother Bill Harper officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, Eucellis Underwood, Red Bay, Ala.; four children, Nancy Underwood McCalpin (Bobby Joe), Phillip Harvey Underwood (Shelia) and Donald Wayne Underwood, all of Red Bay, Ala., and Mary Elizabeth Underwood, Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Camille McCarthy Kukat (James), Darrell Harvey Underwood (Michelle), Chad Hughes and Jennifer Lane (Jonathan); seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey McKinney and Lela Strickland McKinney; a grandson, Paul Wesley Hughes; a brother, William Hoyt McKinney; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Underwood.
Pallbearers will be Billy McKinney, George McKinney, Roger Page, Ronald Page, Barry Page and Mark Armstrong.
Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Friday, September 14 at Deaton Funeral Home and will be 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.
