Charles O. Gober – Obituary

Charles O. Gober, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born June 22, 1930, in Alabama and was retired from Chrysler Corporation, Kenosha, Wis. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Danny Fuller and David Tiffin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Helen Mansell Gober, Red Bay, Ala.; one son, Charles Franklin “Chuck” Gober (Stacy), Orange, Calif.; one brother, Bill Gober, Sheffield, Ala.; one sister, Juanita Massey, Russellville, Ala.; and two grandsons, Rylan Patrick Gober and Reese Michael Gober.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles O. Gober and Bea Thorn Gober; two brothers, Tommy Gober and Orville Gober; and one sister, Effie Massey.

Pallbearers will be Tim Mansell, Terry Mansell, Bill Koehler, Alan Gober, Howard Massey and Scott Hamm. Honorary pallbearers will be Telford Hamm, Joe Basham, Forbus Shewbart, David Tiffin and Woody Edwards.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday.
