Puter Montgomery Jr. – Obituary

Puter Montgomery Jr. was born Nov. 20, 1941 in Decatur, Alabama. He was the second oldest son of five siblings born to the late Mr. Puter Montgomery Sr. and Mrs. Ora Lee Montgomery. After a lengthy illness and according to our heavenly Father’s calling, Puter Jr. transitioned from this earthly life to enjoy peace and rest on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.

His farewell and memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at noon at New Life Baptist Church, 2314 South Hine Street in Athens, Alabama. Pastor Antoyne L. Green will officiate and Reynolds Funeral Home will assist the family.

Puter was a 1960 graduate from Lake Side High School. He retired in 1995 after 32 years of employment at Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo, Indiana.

He leaves to hold many precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Armelia Malone Montgomery, of Athens, Alabama; his daughter, Masheldia (Larry) Montgomery Green, of Tanner, Alabama; son, Pernell (Shannon) Montgomery, of Kokomo, Indiana; grandson, Justin (Brittany) Montgomery Turner; and great-grandson, Greyson Jeffrey Turner, of Scottsdale, Arizona. He also leaves his brother, Willie Howard (Barbara) Montgomery, of Tacoma, Washington; and sisters, Dean (Phil) Bullick, of Kokomo, Indiana, Linda (Ted) Walton, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Elaine (James) Rowell II, of Florence, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Lucy Pearl Gill, of Belle Mina, Alabama; great-aunt, Delsie Williams and companion Henry Taylor, of Decatur, Alabama; cousins, Bessie Mae (Chester) Williams and Francis Matthews, all of Decatur, Alabama, and Jean Williams, of Triana, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
