Monie Lou Watkins, age 94, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Columbia, Tennessee.

Monie was born on December 16, 1922 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to Tony and Lillie Mae Moyers Roland. She was married to Tom Ed Watkins and together they had eleven children. She lived through the great depression and saw the world change greatly during her lifetime, even remembering the invention of sliced bread in 1927. She was an incredibly talented musician, who could pick a guitar and sing. Her faith was also a very strong part of her life, and she enjoyed using her God given talent to sing gospel songs. She would study her Bible for hours and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. She was a strong woman who was never sick a day in her life, and if she was, she would never admit it. She was dearly loved by her family and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Monie is survived by her beloved children: Tommy Watkins, Joyce Pendleton, Peggy Hudson, Carolyn Dodson, Albert Watkins, Dwight Watkins, Gale Pylant and Donald Watkins; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Tom Ed Watkins; children: William Watkins, Lula Mae Jones and Charles Watkins.
