Ruby Kathryn Johnson – Obituary

Ruby Kathryn Johnson, 97, of Columbia, TN passed away on August 31, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby attended Leatherwood and Shady Grove School and graduated in Centerville, TN in 1940. She and her husband, Sam, lived in Michigan for many years and were involved in the VFW Post #3323. In 1989, she and Sam moved back to Tennessee. They were married for 59 years. She belonged to the love boat at Riverside United Methodist Church where she was also a member and James Madison Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Ruby was a wonderful mother. She enjoyed her coloring books and learned her computer skills at age 89. She was known to get up every morning, get ready for the day and always be well put together. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Ruby was survived by her Children: Janice (Larry) Logue, Willis (Paula) Johnson; Grandchildren: Grant (Amy) Johnson, Tammy (Murray) Bauman Body, Tracy Miller, Troy Logue; Great-grandchildren: Brett (Kristina) Johnson, Katelyn (Elias) Langlois, Skyler Garcia, Ashley Harrison, Blane Harrison, Hailey Miller and Courtney Logue as well as numerous Great-Great-Grandchildren; Siblings: Lurlene (Fred) Elliott, Melvin Meador, Harold (Reba) Meador as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Samuel Johnson; Grandchildren: Scott Poag and Tracy Poag; Brother: Fain Meador and Sister in law: Minnie Lou Meador. Her family would also like to mention special friends Barbara, Jessica, Hailey and Hannah Carter as well as Bettie Milum Godfrey.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017 at 10:00 am at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
Pallbearers are Tom Meador, Nick Meador, Blane Harrison, Doug Meador, Doug Johnson, Mike Payne and Troy Logue. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Gaylon Harris, Members of Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #19, Columbia, Members of Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3323 Westland, Michigan as well as Members of James Madison Sparkman United Daughters of the Confederacy of Maury County.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Riverside Methodist Church Building Fund
