James Cloyed Howard – Obituary

James Cloyed Howard, 63, passed away on Aug. 28, 2017, at ECM Hospital after a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Florence, Alabama specifically Zip City. Cloyed was a proud graduate of Wilson High School, and he was a retired member of Labor Local 366. He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Howard, and grandparents, Malcolm and Geneva Dickey and Oliver and Missy Howard. He was also preceded in death by special aunt, Paulette Hetrick.

Survivors include wife of 40 years, Teri Mitchell Howard, and two sons, Quentin (Christy) Howard and Mitch Howard. Other survivors include grandchildren, Peyton, Landon, and Ava Howard; mother, Jean Hanback; brothers, Mike Howard and Jeff Hanback; sister, Darlene (Walter) Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Cloyed was a very simple man who loved to make people laugh. He loved Christmas and sports, especially Alabama football. Cloyed also loved telling stories of his boys and their days playing baseball at Underwood Dixie Youth Complex. He was a very proud grandfather, and he loved his grandkids.

To honor Cloyed’s wishes there will not be a visitation or funeral service. The family would like to thank the ICU and Palliative Care nurses at ECM Hospital for the outstanding care they provided.
