Harry Lee Nelson, Jr. – Obituary

Harry Lee Nelson, Jr. was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 31, 1948 and died after an illness on August 31, 2017. He was a retired school teacher and history professor with Jackson State Community College. He was a 1967 graduate of Chester County High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1969-71. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Freed-Hardeman University, Memphis State University, and George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University. He was involved in both the Scotts Hill American Legion and the Scott Hill Lions Club.
He leaves behind two brothers, Donald Nelson (Debbie) and Richard Nelson of Bethel Springs; two daughters, Virginia Frizzell (Daniel) of Decaturville and Cheryl Middleton (Glenn) of Reagan; their mother, Joan Nelson of Scotts Hill; and four grandchildren, Britney and Dana Frizzell and Lane and Dixie Middleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lee Nelson, Sr. and Frances Irene Nelson, his first wife, Pauline Creasy Nelson; and his sister, Anita Austein.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery
