Virginia Sue Miller Knight – Obituary

Virginia Sue Miller Knight, 88, passed away Wednesday Aug. 9, 2017, at her home in Decatur. She was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Cullman County. She was the daughter of Major Lee Miller and Jewell Guthery Miller.

Virginia lived a full and rewarding life. She graduated from Auburn University in 1951. It was at Auburn that she met Carl Knight and they married in 1952. She was a well-respected teacher in the Decatur City and Morgan County School Systems for 30 years. She was an incredible role model. Mrs. Knight taught with dignity and integrity and she lived her life this way. She attended Somerville Road Church of Christ.

The visitation will be at Roselawn Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery in Cullman County with Gary Patton officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Knight, Ronnie Knight, Seth Knight, Jeremy Arthur, Tim Knight and Tommy Knight.

She is survived by her sons, Tommy Knight (Linda), of Jackson, Mississippi, and Tim Knight (Misty), of Cullman; sister, Sharon Miller Arthur; three grandchildren, Seth Knight (Allie), Jordan Knight and John Carl Knight; and a niece and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Major and Jewell Miller; her husband Carl M Knight; and sister Mary Ruth Miller Gentry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602 or Prospect Cemetery Fund, 2485 Co. Rd. 310, Crane Hill, AL 35053.
