Ruby Nell McCarley Thomas, age 87, formerly of Hamilton, passed away Thursday Aug. 3, 2017, at the LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, Tennessee. Ruby was born on July 13, 1930, in Marion County to the late B and Suzie Cochran McCarley. She was a member of Bear Creek Freewill Baptist Church (Chigger Hill). Ruby loved her church and her church family. She was known to many as Mama Thomas.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Elvis Cochran officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Tree Cemetery. She is survived by son, Randall (Judy) Thomas; grandchildren, Chris (Misse) Thomas and Matt Thomas (Meredith McCarthy); brother, Bobby McCarley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Thomas.
Active pallbearers were Chris Thomas, Matt Thomas, Richard Phillips, Larry Speakman, David Garner, and Nathan Falin,
