Mary Cox Hunter, 79, of Arab, died Sunday August 6, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mrs. Hunter was born January 6, 1938 in Marshall County to Garnett Cox and Nannie B. Douglas Cox. She was a 1956 graduate of Marshall County High School in Guntersville. She worked as an administrative assistant at Redstone Arsenal until her retirement. He husband Miller Hunter preceded her in death March, 2007. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, watching Alabama football and served on the Beautification Board.
She was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph Morris and Pam, Mark Morris and Jean, John H. Gibson and Jennifer; her daughter and son-in-law: Jenny Northridge and Craig; Stepson: Andy Hunter and Teresa; grandchildren: Mark Morris, Jr., Whitney Morris, Anna Isom, Ally Northridge, Julie Gibson, Misty Williams, Jada Nix, Brittany Wiseman, Lauren Ramsey, Drew Hunter and John Miller Hunter; great grandchildren: Marley Williams, Henley Wiseman, McKenna Wiseman and Hayden Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her husband: Miller Hunter; her parents: Garnett and Nannie Cox; a grandson: John David Isom and three sisters: Eva Rouse, Virginia Burden and Frances Huckaby.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Arab First United Methodist Church with Rev: Steve West and Rev. Roy Bryant, officiating. She will lie in state from 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Grove First Baptist Church Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Craig Northridge, Nels Strickland, Mark Ferguson, Mark Morris, Jr., Shawn Williams, Joey Light and Andrew Watwood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob King, Billy Joe Barnard, Bill Privett, Max Carter and Phil Cousins.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
